SYNET is an informal association which has the aim of helping to promote and encourage community information networks in the South Yorkshire and nearby areas. It holds seminars once or twice each year, at which developers of local initiatives are invited to speak. The seminars also provide the opportunity for the exchange of experiences and ideas, and are usually free to participants.
SYNET is a not-for-profit organisation which was founded in 1995 by David Miller of the Department of Information Studies, University of Sheffield, Sheila Pantry of Sheila Pantry Associates Ltd, and Graham Bagshaw of GB IT Services, who work collaboratively as associates.
